Speaking at the launch of the initiative, Nickey Brennan, President, GAA, commented “In recent times the phenomenon of Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome, together with an increased number of young people suffering cardiac arrest, has highlighted the need for clubs to invest in life-saving defibrillators and appropriate training in the use of this equipment.   Immediate, appropriate treatment plays a vital role in improving survival rates for people experiencing cardiac arrest.  This is an area which has been of key concern to the GAA.  We are hopeful that this initiative will better enable clubs nationwide to be prepared should a player suffer a sudden cardiac arrest.” 

HORSE Sport Ireland (HSI) has provided its Affiliate bodies with Heartsafety Training & Defibrillators

Horse Sport Ireland Affiliates who attended training included: AIRC, AIRE, Carriage Driving Section of HSI, Dressage Ireland, Eventing Ireland, ILDRA, Irish Pony Club, Irish Pony Society and Show Jumping Ireland. The feedback was very positive with participants feeling more confident about helping someone in an emergency.
