Most defibrillators have diagrams depicting how to use the pads; users can refer to them for guidance.
The pads should be placed on the casualty’s chest as shown in the diagram. The user must then operate the defibrillator with varying levels of input depending on whether it is semi-automatic or fully automatic. The defibrillator will either automatically administer an electric shock or prompt the user to push a button.
