Heartsine Samaritan PAD Paediatric Pad-Pak

The Paediatric Pad-Pak is intended for use by children. In particular, children under the age of eight or weighing less than 25 kg. The Paediatric Pad-Pak aims to save a child in sudden cardiac arrest when used in conjunction with HeartSine Pad Defibrillators.

Sudden cardiac arrest does not discriminate; it can happen to anyone at any time, regardless of age, gender, or health. This is why you, your business, or your facility must be best prepared to deliver treatment to adults and children. Sudden cardiac arrest is less common in children than in adults; however, it can still occur without warning. 

Fast action is crucial to a person's survival in sudden cardiac arrest. Having the correct equipment to perform life-saving treatment on a child will save you valuable time.

Using the Paediatric Pad-Pak is simple, and thanks to the clear prompts from the defibrillator, anyone can operate the device and pads. On the product, there is a diagram of where users should place the pads on the casualty, providing anyone with the confidence needed to deliver treatment. 

There are two main types of defibrillators: semi-automatic and fully-automatic, and depending on the level of input required by the user depends on which type you have. Semi-automatic defibrillators require more user input than fully-automatic defibrillators, although both guide you through the process. 

Once the pads are correctly positioned on the patient's chest, the defibrillator will either deliver a shock or prompt the user to press a button.

The main difference between the Paediatric Pad-Pak and the Adult Pad-Pak is that one is for adults, and the other is for children. That being said, there are more specific requirements for the pads: 

• The Paediatric Pad-Pak: Aged between 1-8 or under 25kg
• The Adult Pad-Pak: Over 8 years old or over 25kg

You must use the appropriate pads on the casualty because they administer different levels of electric shock. A child in sudden cardiac arrest needs a lower, safer shock than an adult.
